Shiply has now successfully facilitated the delivery of more than half a million eBay items since 2008, marking a significant milestone in the company’s official integration with the online auction platform.

Shiply originally announced its official eBay compatibility status in March 2009, with the aim of providing an option for users without vehicles to still bid on, win and have “collection only” listings delivered to their door. The delivery platform – utilising a reverse auction model itself – has seen steady annual growth in eBay deliveries since then, and when combined with the increasing interest in pre-owned items for economical and environmental reasons, this trend does not look like it will slow up. A study by Shiply in 2019 revealed that around 5 per cent of eBay items are still marked as “collection only”.

Shiply’s managing director, Gavin Alexander, stated: “We are incredibly proud of our ongoing success with eBay shipments. We have seen a steady increase in users turning to Shiply to deliver their eBay goods, and believe this is only going to continue as more eco-conscious consumers look to second-hand markets to shop.”

Shiply, used by several million customers since 2008, allows users to paste an eBay item url into our website along with their postcode and receive multiple quotes from delivery companies to ship the item to their door.

Prices can be up to 75 per cent cheaper than standard rates, and eBay auctions that were previously inaccessible to users due to “collection only” restrictions are opened up to everyone.

Shiply, founded in 2008, is an online transport marketplace that matches people needing to move goods with transport companies going there anyway. More than 25 per cent of lorries and vans run empty of cargo and 50 per cent run only part-full. By utilising the Shiply platform and making use of this spare capacity, Shiply dramatically cuts down on wasteful CO2 emissions whilst also increasing the profitability of transport companies and offering up to 75 per cent off standard rates for consumers/SMEs.
